Why Laminates?
Protect your custom printed products from Stains, Spills and Smudges. The Lamination process is basically two pieces of clear plastic film that is bonded with the product or custom print in between to add a layer of protection and or finish.
The Benefits of Laminate Printing
Discover the benefits of lamination for printed materials,
A Gloss, Matt or Soft touch velvet laminate offers several benefits, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. Here are some advantages:
- Enhanced Appearance: laminates add a sophisticated and high-end look which can help elevate the perceived quality and appeal of the product.
- Reduced Glare and Reflection(Matte and Soft Touch Velvet): Unlike glossy finishes, matte and soft touch velvet laminates have a low reflectivity, which minimizes glare and reflections. This makes it easier for consumers to view and read the information on the box sleeve, even under different lighting conditions. It can be particularly advantageous when the product is displayed in retail settings with bright lights.
- Fingerprint and Smudge Resistance: Matte laminates are typically more resistant to fingerprints, smudges, and other marks compared to glossy finishes. This is beneficial for packaging that may be handled frequently, as it helps maintain a cleaner and more professional appearance.
- Increased Durability: The laminate layer adds a protective coating to the box sleeve, making it more resistant to scratches, scuffs, and general wear and tear. This durability ensures that the packaging maintains its visual appeal throughout the supply chain and during handling by both retailers and consumers.
- Tactile Experience: Matte and Soft Touch Velvet laminates offer a unique tactile experience as they have a soft, velvety touch. This can create a pleasant and premium feel when customers interact with the packaging, enhancing their overall product experience.
- Versatility: Laminates can be applied to a wide range of materials, including paperboard, cardstock, and various types of boxes and packaging materials. This versatility allows businesses to use laminates for different packaging designs and applications.
Overall, a laminate provides a greater level of appearance, durability, and adds a tactile dimension. These benefits can contribute to a positive brand perception, improved product presentation, and a memorable customer experience.

This can be used to add something to your design. When laminated over dark coloured print, the pattern can really pop. Placing over a range of printed colours offers different intensities of the pattern. Gloss varnishing has the effect of "switching off" the holographic pattern, increasing the design pattern.
