Die-cut vs.
Kiss-cut Sticker Printing
This is a commonly asked question regarding these two different types of stickers. What is the difference between Die Cut and Kiss-Cut? Which one is more suitable for my purpose of printing? Which would you recommend and are they the same quality? The thing is they are exactly the same! Confused? Read more below.
Examples of Die-Cut Stickers
There’s a high demand for Die-cut stickers all the time since these are basically stickers cut to shape all the way through the sticker and paper backing to create a smooth and precise sticker print. Die-cuts fit the shape of your design or artwork.
This results in a aesthetic looking sticker even before you apply it on a surface.
These stickers are often recommended for logo stickers, branding, marketing stickers for give-aways, festivals, expos, promos, and freebies. Die-cut stickers add a more premium and sophisticated vibe compared to Kiss-cuts. They are made for better presentations of your sticker.
Examples of Kiss-Cut Stickers
Kiss-cut stickers on the other hand are the same as die cut stickers. The sticker is cut to shape, exact same quality and material for the adhesive and artwork.
The only difference is Kiss-cut stickers have a square or rectangle paper backing for peeling instead of the custom shape of the sticker. This is the only difference between the two.
Generally, Kiss-cut stickers are recommended for packaging logos or label stickers which you will manually be sticking on to your surfaces. Basically, the same as die-cut but these are easier to peel off and apply, however not as satisfying to give out to customers and clients for marketing purposes since the paper backing is NOT cut to shape.
Since the paper backing is a square or rectangle, it helps to protect your custom shaped sticker from scratching the edges.
